We spent some time out at Senek Farms in Ransomville. Senek is a 4th generation farm and has been around since 1922. You might be surprised to learn that currently, Senek is a women-owned and operated farm, which is very cool!

When we visit our farms, we always notice that you’ll never catch them at the house because as farmers — they are always working!

Senek Farms primarily grows fruit including strawberries, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, pears, apricots, and apples that they bring to us at the Market. Senek usually grows more than one variety of their fruits. For instance, you might find red haven or white doughnut peaches; red or yellow plums; and yellow lodi, jersey mac and many other apple varieties. In addition to fruit, they also offer a limited variety of other produce throughout the season including summer squash, zucchini, tomatoes, pumpkins, cabbage, brussels sprouts, eggplant, winter squash, broccoli, cauliflower, and more.

At this time of year in August and September, Senek has primarily pears, nectarines, peaches and apples. Senek is currently the only farm offering nectarines at the Market.

It’s always a sight to see produce growing in the fields. When looking at the trees on the farm, you couldn’t help but notice that the trees were absolutely loaded with plump, juicy fruit — it was absolutely amazing!
