The Vizcarra family, owners of Becker Farms and Vizcarra Vineyards, embraces Mother Nature and they want everyone else to embrace it with the same passion as they do. Their fruit and vegetable farm and vineyard is a big place — 340 acres to be exact. And they’ve been around a long time — a century. We made a stop at the farm to learn more about what they offer. We learned that they like to strengthen roots and not just those on their plants. Their philosophy is that a farm fresh meal is a foundation for maintaining a strong bond with families and friends — and further, it strengthens communities and enriches lives. The farm grows about every local fruit you can imagine. On our visit, we could see that the strawberries were nearly ready for harvest. After strawberries, cherries will be available, followed by raspberries, blueberries, apples, and plums. And we can’t forget the fall pumpkins. Becker Farms offers around a dozen varieties of apples from the early Ginger Golds and Paula Reds to the late season Crispin and Ida Reds. We took a ride through the orchards and fields, where we saw the fruits in various stages of readiness and wow … just wow, was there a lot to see.
